Wanyu Chou: Untitled 

My everyday life is in the city, but I am fascinated by the beauty and stillness of nature. This new series of work is inspired by the flowers, trees and plants which I find in my surroundings, and on my trips to the mountains. I spend time reading the forms of the plants, and in my recollections recall the harmonious compositions, lingering over considerations of design, shape and colour. I developed the paintings on canvas, and am excited to see the pieces as they are finished so that I can share with the viewer my collected impressions and memories. Secretly, I would like to bring home a forest, and in this way I am collecting and saving it forever.
